I studied at Chelsea School of Art in London, gaining a first-class BA and an MA in Fine Art Painting. I was awarded the Boise Travel Scholarship to travel to Australia, and the White Dove Press Award to travel to Italy. I held a residency at the Florence Trust in London, where I produced a new body of work for exhibition. My work has been shown across London, including at the Mall Galleries and the Wellcome Trust.
I began with light and landscape, drawn from growing up on the south coast. In London the work turned urban and more urgent — gestural, confronting. Some paintings were political: The Deliverance Programme, about lethal injection, and Something Surfaced, about Anne Frank’s letter describing her wish to go to Hollywood. Others were entirely personal.
What I found was that I wanted to tell stories. I bought a Super 8 camera, made my first short, and fell in love with film.
